Why Fly YXC?

One stop service to most major cities in the United States

One Month Anniversary

January 17, 2009

It’s been one month since that historic inaugural flight landed at Canadian Rockies International Airport.

Now that we have snow on the ground and skiers moving around the continent in search of the best conditions, bookings on Delta flights to the Canadian Rockies Intenational Airport have really taken off.  One US family took advantage of the flight as a means to fulfill a ski dream.  Mom, Dad and grown-up-and-moved-from-home son are all avid skiers, who had hoped for several years to ski the legendary slopes at Fernie.  Delta’s new nonstop flight to YXC allowed them to depart their two different home cities, meet in Salt Lake City and fly to the Kootenay Rockies together, enjoying the two hour fly time to catch up with the latest family news, before booking their car at the airport, and taking off for their Fernie adventure.

Says Laurie Reed, Air Partner Program Coordinator for Kootenay Rockies Tourism, “this is exactly what we were hoping for, and why Delta was chosen.  Salt Lake City is Delta’s western hub, with connections to almost 100 other US cities.  It’s never been easier to visit the Kootenay Rockies!”

Planes coming in also means planes going out, providing an easy means for the region’s residents to run away from the snow for a winter getaway.  “The latest seat sale offers great rates to places like Las Vegas, Phoenix, LA and Palm Springs”, says Reed.  “It’s time to say goodbye to snow shovelling, and hello to shorts and t-shirts!”
